MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: How to Protect Against Vibrations and Noises with Naruecha Srivirach

In this month’s Member Spotlight, we’d like to introduce you to Naruecha Srivirach, the General Manager of GERB Thailand, a company that helps increase comfort and protect against vibrations, structure-borne noise and natural disasters. We asked Naruecha some questions to get to know him and learn about the journey he’s been on, career-wise.

Let’s start with the basics. Who is GERB Thailand and what is your role in the company?

Inventor of the Spring-Viscodamper® used under thousands of machines and structures worldwide, GERB supplies vibration isolation products and civil engineering of foundations for the industries you depend on. I’m Naruecha Srivirach, the General Manager of GERB Thailand and the person responsible for all activities in the country.

Can you tell us a little about the history of GERB? When was it founded, what sparked it, etc.?

The history of GERB dates back to Berlin, Germany in 1908. GERB has worked to control vibration and structure-borne noise. We design and supply vibration control systems based on helical steel spring elements, viscous fluid dampers (Viscodampers®), tuned mass dampers (TMD), closed-cell polyurethane elasticity solutions (NOVODAMP®), sliding bearings, as well as bespoke solutions in those related fields. In 2019, GERB established a subsidiary in Bangkok, Thailand.

Who would benefit most from your products and services?

All industries that need to protect against noise and vibration from/to surrounding environments can benefit from our services. Vibration isolation system can be adopted, e.g., machines, office studios, traffic, power plants, hospitals, manufacturers, sensitive equipment, etc. Our systems are known for longevity, reliability and maintenance-free operation of GERB’s technology.

What has been your favorite project and why?

I have quite a lot of favorite worldwide projects. The first official project that comes to mind is the Bangkok – Red Line Mass Transit system. We’ve provided the track isolation system to the State Railway of Thailand at Bang Sue Grand station. The vibration mitigation technology that was adopted has reduced the vibration and structure borne noises.

How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected you and your business – positively or negatively?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all investments and activities have been put on hold for a while. All projects have been adjusted according to the unstable times we have been living.

Let’s talk a little about you. What do you enjoy when you are not working?

I like to work out, travel and spend quality time with my family.

What made you choose Antares Offices as your home base for your company?

We have chosen Antares as the home base of GERB Thailand thanks to its perfect location, close proximity to main road and BTS station, and cozy office environment. All the staff are very friendly, and the services are very nice. The meeting rooms are perfect for all kinds of business gatherings, too.
